5 Keys to Better Time Management in COVID-19 Era

As the COVID-19 era continues, we’re all still figuring out how best to navigate this “new normal” of more common remote workphysical distancing, and unfamiliar schedules.

More than ever, it’s important to prioritize time management in order to establish much-needed routine. Effective time management can make all the difference in ensuring that we stay productive, while allowing us time for our personal lives.

Lets look at some of the keys tgood time management as it relates to our current situation.

1. Prioritize your “to-do” list.

Working remotely can introduce new distractions compared to working in an office. To ensure that tasks don’t fall through the cracks, it’s essential to be meticulous and consistent in keeping a to-do list. Make a point of prioritizing everything on the list, too. Besides helping you stay on track, it can also reduce the stress of trying to remember or rush at the last minute.

2. Identify your most productive time.

Without as much structure as we’re used to, time can start to blur, and with it, your sense of productivity. Try to be aware of when during the day your productivity level peaks. Schedule the tasks that require the most focus for the times when you’re most capable of accomplishing them.

3. Make use of time between meetings.

If you’re in frequent meetings or phone calls, the time between those collaborative sessions can often go to waste. Avoid the lull. Use that time to complete smaller and less focusintensive tasks on your to-do list.

4. Do one thing at a time.

Studies have shown that multitasking results in lowered productivity than when we focus our attention on one task at a time. Focus on doing one thing well rather than trying to multitask and compromise on the quality of your work.

5. Practice self-care.

Focusing on your mental and physical wellbeing may seem counterintuitive when it comes to productivity, but its an essential component. We perform best when we are feeling well physically and mentally. Paying attention to exercise, sleep, and nutrition is invaluable to getting the most out of every day.

Proper time management is incredibly important during these stressful and uncertain times. It helps our work and our personal lives co-exist in a healthy, productive balance.
